Overview of biometrics support for platforms and browsers

WebAuthn, the specification that enables biometric login on browsers, is still fairly new and does not have consistent support across all platforms and browsers. Passage handles all of the complexity that this creates and provides a unified, frictionless experience for end users, whether they have a supported device or not.

For testing purposes, you may want to know the expected behavior on a specific device and browser. The table below shows the current platform and browser support that Passage offers. We are continually tracking updates to operating systems and browsers and will continue to provide improved support over time.

Passage currently only supports platform authenticators and not roaming authenticators, such as Yubikeys. This is because platform authenticators (TouchID, FaceID, etc) are much more prevalent among consumers and disabling roaming authenticators provides a better user experience.
